THAR: Sindh Inspector General Police (IGP) AD Khawaja met the parents of the two slain Hindu brothers in Thar here on Monday, expressed condolence over their loss and assured them of early arrest of the assailants.
The IGP visited the residence of the two grain traders – Dileep Kumar, 42, and Chandar Kumar Mahaswari, 40 – who were shot dead by two unidentified motorcyclists on Saturday, said a statement issued here.
AD Khawaja assured the parents of slain brothers that the police were making all-out efforts to nab the culprits as early as possible.
He said the police were facing difficulties to trace the assailants, as there was, unfortunately, no eyewitness account of the tragic incident.
The IGP said that besides Thar police, the police of the other districts had also been directed to make every possible effort for the arrest of the criminals.
The IGP, however, refused to share details on the progress of the case with the media, but claimed that he was getting fresh reports every two days on the developments made in relation to the case.
Expressing his deep regret, the IGP said that Thar is a peaceful area, and this is for the first time in its history that two persons were killed in a firing incident.
He said if no progress was achieved in this case, he might suspend the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and the station house officer concerned.
