ISLAMABAD: Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Court on Thursday granted one-day exemption from hearing to the Director General (DG) Health Dr Asad Hafeez in Ephedrine quota case and adjourned the proceedings till January 18.
CNS Judge Irum Niazi took up the ephedrine case for hearing against Mussa Gilani, the son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and the former federal minister Makhdoom Shahabuddin.
Mussa Gilani, Dr Asad Hafeez and three other witnesses appeared before the court. However, the other accused Iftikhar Khan failed to appear before the court.
As the hearing began, Dr Asad Hafeez requested the court to grant him one-day exemption from attendance, as he wanted to visit abroad to participate in a meeting.
The court accepted the plea and adjourned the hearing of the case till January 18. The court also directed the accused Iftikhar Khan to ensure his attendance at the next hearing as the three witnesses could not be testified due to his absence.
The court also summoned the three witnesses again on next hearing.
