APC agreed to support teachers’ struggle for rights

KARACHI: Primary Teachers Association (PTA) on Tuesday held all parties conference (APC) to discuss its march to be held on January 4 from Karachi Press Club (KPC) to Bilawal House in Karachi. All participants agreed to the charter of demands and vowed to support teachers.

The APC was attended by PTA Sindh president Shafi Muhammad,  Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Nusrat Saher Abbasi, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Muhaz-Bashir group (JSQM-B) leader Illahi Bux Bikak, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Muhaz-Aresar (JSQM-A) Shaukat Ali Sanbhal, Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STP) leader Khair Muhammad Magsi, Sindh United Party (SUP) leader Aijaz Samtio, Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) leader Yaqoob Chandio, a Pak Sarmzameen Party (PSP) representative, Sindh National Party (SNP) leader Ramzan Buledi, a Qaumi Awami Tahreek (QAT) leader, Pakistan People’s Party- Shaheed Bhutto (PPP-SB) representative, National Testing Service (NTS) action committee member Ali Nawaz Pahnwer and other civil society members.

PTA and NTS Action Committee tabled the charter of demands before all participants. Some of the important demands included the regularization NTS in the province, issuance of a health-care card to the teachers of Sindh, restoration of teachers’ son quota and the installation of a biometric system at district level.

Speaking on the occasion, Shafi said that education system of Sindh had badly been affected due to the poor policies of Sindh government.

He said PTA had started celebrating Sindh Education Day in 2017 by visiting several areas, where they encouraged people to enrol their children in schools.
