LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, while addressing a meeting from London through a video link on Thursday, directed that midnight oil should be burnt for earliest completion of the Orange Line Metro Train and speed of work be further accelerated on allied works attached with this project.
The chief minister instructed the officials that restoration of historical places and renovation works should also be completed at the earliest and effective safety measures be ensured for the workers and technicians working on the project.
During the meeting, the progress on civil, mechanical and electrical works of the OLMT was reviewed and implementation on the directions in light of the decision of the Supreme Court was also pondered over.
The chief minister was also given a briefing about the progress on construction works during the meeting that was attended by Provincial Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani, Punjab government spokesman Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, the chief secretary, IG police, secretaries, contractors, China Railway NORINCO team and other officials concerned.
CM Sharif ordered that comprehensive safety measures be ensured for the protection of citizens moving around during the construction works, adding that the line departments should also expedite the construction works by maintaining close and continuous liaison with each other.
