LAHORE: On the direction of Punjab Minister for Environment Protection Zakia Shahnawaz, the Environment Protection Department started operations against the factories violating environment rules and sealed eight mills on Wednesday.
According to District Environment Officer Riaz Anjum, the action was taken to control smog in the provincial capital.
He said that special teams sealed Roshan Steal Mills, Masood Steal Mills, Eastern Steal Mills, HB steal mills, M/B Con steal mills, Hassan Steal Mills, Babri Steal Mills and Shahid Industry on the spot.
He said that these units were releasing smoke in the air and causing environment pollution. He said that an operation had also been started against the smoke emitting vehicles and an awareness campaign had been started to inform the drivers about the pollution.
