ISLAMABAD: The initial report of the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight crash at Havelian has revealed that the malfunction of the engine caused the crash rather driver’s negligence.

ATRP K-661 plane had crashed on December 7, 2016, in which popular Islamic scholar Junaid Jamshed had died along with other 47 passengers. The revelation appeared in the initial report of the Havelain air crash got by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) from France and Canada.

The national flag career had sent some of the parts of the crashed plane to France and Canada for forensic investigation to reach the reason behind the crash. According to a report, an engine of the unlucky airplane had become out of order during the journey and later it caused its crash.

According to the report, one of the two engine of the plane was working, however, it is being probed when the second engine was functional how the plane crashed. “It is also being investigated why the second engine also left working,” the experts raised the question in the report.

The CAA officials said that the final report would be received in a month. On December 7, 2016, the PIA flight PK-661 carrying 48 passengers, including Jamshed, and crew had crashed on the way to Islamabad from Chitral at 4:42pm PST. The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed there are no survivours from the ill-fated flight.

As many as 46 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage. PIA spokesman Daniyal Gilani confirmed there were 48 passengers, five crew members and one ground engineer on board. The passenger list confirmed there were 31 men, nine women and two infants on board the flight, including Jamshed and his family, as well as three foreigners.
