GCU to hold summer camp for sportsmen

The Government College University (GCU), Lahore Directorate of Sports will hold a three-month sports summer camp for professional training of sportsmen from across the country.
On Friday, GCU Director Sports Khadim Ali Khan chaired a meeting of the GCU Sports Board and finalised all arrangements for the summer camps. The GCU director sports said that the university was holding a sports summer camp for the first time in its 147-year-old history. The sports camps will held for around ten different games including athletics, cricket, basketball, football, badminton, squash, tennis, table tennis and gymnastics.
The three-month long sports summer camp, commencing from June 1, will provide a platform for passionate individuals who want to become stars in the world of sports. Khadim said that during the summer camps, sportsmen will achieve physical fitness and have contact with outstanding professionals of their respective games. The skills imparted during the game will be beneficial for them in the long-run. He said that keeping in view the scorching heat, the camps would be held at early morning or evening.
The GCU Directorate of Sports was holding a gym tanning camp for fitness and reduction of weight for overweight people. Khadim encouraged students, besides professional sportsmen, to actively take part in the sports summer camps. He said that sports were an integral part of physical fitness and mental training. These activities have a profound effect on the physical fitness and mental health of students, which ultimately enhanced their capabilities and efficiency, he said.
