ISLAMABAD: In a welcome move, Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that training classes will be launched in Mera Bhegwal Polytechnic Institute from next month, after a lapse of 27 years, which will help develop technical workforce for the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as well.

According to details, the CADD minister will request Prime Minister (PM) Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for a regular opening of college next month. The training courses will be arranged in collaboration with the Construction Technology Training Institute (CTTI) – an attached department working under the Ministry of Communication.

According to reports, the CTTI is a renowned technical training institute which has a wide range of technical training courses. Its trained diploma and certificate holders are serving at high-level technical positions all across the country.

The CADD minister met with Communications Minister Junaid Anwar and proposed to run the Mera Bhegwal College on the lines of CTTI. The director of CTTI and FWO DG visited the college along with the CADD minister and decided to make the college operational in October this year with mutual consultation. It was decided that in the first phase, three-year courses of civil, electrical and computer subjects will be offered while mechanical and other courses will be launched from next year.

For the first year, all the arrangements for the courses will be made by CTTI and FWO, while from the next year, CADD will get funding from the federal budget for the technical institute.

According to details, a few years back, Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry tried to activate the organisation so that a national asset could be utilised for the maximum benefit of students. Due to his efforts, a MoU was signed between CADD and Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) but the university could not launch training due to various administrative and financial problems.

The CADD and the ministry of communication will sign a MoU, for issuing training courses in the institute, in the next few days under which CTTI and FWO will start classes from next month. The two sides agreed that the children of the area will be given priority for admissions in the training courses.
