Chikungunya count reaches 25 in Tharparkar

KARACHI: At least 25 Chikungunya suspected cases have been reported from Tharparkar/Mithi in the first 12 days of September 2017. The total number of Chikungunya cases has reached 646 since April 2o17.

As per a report released by Sindh Health Department, a total of 4,106 Chikungunya suspected cases emerged in the province, out of which, 34,55 emerged in Karachi, 646 in  Tharparkar, four in Sanghar and one in Umerkot so far.

In Karachi, out of total 3,455 cases, 1740 were reported in District Malir, 156 in District Central, 180 in District South, 1212 in District West, 156 in District East, and 11 in District Korangi.

The Chikungunya is transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes and the major symptoms include high fever, joint pain, joint swelling, rash, headache, muscle pain, nausea, and fatigue. The chikungunya is rarely fatal, while the death rate of the disease-affected people is less than one per cent.
