Corruption may come in many forms, often in politics and sport. Politicians on a regular basis have been found guilty of corruption, as with sports persons. Politicians use unethical techniques to gain advantage in elections, to gain money, votes or to simply put them in a better position than somebody else. There is corruption in police force, in law and order and even in the management of the Olympics.
Corruption does not bring about any good. It occurs in many forms, some much more common than the others. Corruption can also cause tension among employees and can greatly reduce the effectiveness of teamwork. It affects one’s pay, promotions, and overall feeling of loyalty towards their employer. While not an easy problem to solve by any means, it is, however, one that can be reduced.
Corruption is a problem that occurs in nearly every workplace. Not only is corruption a problem on our own Pakistani soil, but police practices of corruption go as far east as Europe and USA. Many studies and polls show them as the most corrupt, though for good reason. Pakistan was listed by the Transparency International as the third most corrupt nation in the world after China and Taiwan.
Pakistan’s survival into the future and into the next century depends on a greater distribution of political and economic power from the centre to the provinces and cities. At the same time, the elite must be forced to provide room to professionals from urban middle calls and allow a wider representation in the National Assembly from the population.
