LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has inspected in detail the 1230 megawatt gas power plant in Haveli Bahadar Shah area of Jhang and said that generation of 750-megawatt electricity will begin in a week and be included in the national grid.

An amount of Rs 90 billion will be spent on this project, said the chief minister.

He visited different areas of the plant including the control room and expressed his satisfaction over the speedy work. He also held meetings with different engineers and workers, telling them that the project was of national importance and that their role would always be remembered in the history.

He said that the project would help decrease load-shedding in the country and added that the turbine of the project will begin electricity production on trial basis.

He said that the development made in the energy production during the last four years is unprecedented in the 70-year history of Pakistan. He vowed that domestic as well as industrial consumers will be provided required electricity and paid tributes to local & international experts working day and night in scorching heat to bring this crucial project to completion. He further said that the PML-N government is setting new records of development in Punjab while the opponents remain engrossed in leveling allegations.
