ISLAMABAD
British Home Secretary Theresa May arrived in Pakistan on Sunday on a three-day visit to share vital information about the “Europe terror plot”, allegedly planned in North Waziristan.
She will share the intelligence information with Pakistani authorities and urge them to take stronger action against the Al Qaeda and the Taliban in the Tribal Areas.
May arrived in Lahore on the first leg of her visit, and Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer received her upon her arrival. She will reach Islamabad today (Monday) to hold crucial anti-terrorism talks with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and other senior Pakistani officials.
“The visit of british minister is highly significant because she will share the latest findings of her country’s intelligence and security agencies about the Europe terror plot. She will also ask for sharing of whatever information Pakistani authorities have on the important issue,” a senior security official said on Sunday.
