Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works has asked the Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF) to submit a detailed report related to status of its ongoing projects in Islamabad and rest of the country during its next meeting here on Monday.
FGEHF director general who was representing the foundation, told the committee members that more than 36 thousand members got registered in Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme and around 6 billion and 70 crore rupees were collected from allottees. The representatives also brushed aside the rumours that Bhara Kahu housing society will be rolled back. ‘We’ll complete the project in record time and increased the speed of work,’ he said.
About the rifts between landowners and firm responsible for development of Bhara Kahu Housing Scheme, the representatives said that several meetings between the two didn’t produce any result. ‘The case is in the court and FGEHF will seek relief in this case and the issue will be resolved. We have also fined the firm 1 billion 20 crore rupees. NAB is also looking into the matter, so FGEHF has deposited a check of Rs 68 crore with NAB in this regard,’ the representative told the senators.
Committee Chairman Senator Maulana Tanvir-ul-Haque said that the complete details pertaining to FGEHF projects all over the country be submitted on next meeting.
The committee asked the NAB officials to present its report on actions taken and decisions made by the authority and brief the committee about it.
The FGEHF DG also told the committee that since 1989, the foundation completed 23 projects so far. ‘Presently, we are developing 7 thousand kanal land in Sector F-14, 3 thousand in F-16, 3 thousand in Bhara Kahu Phase 1, 16 thousand in phase II and residential units in G-14, G-15,’ he said adding that 85pc of the work is done on many of the projects.
