CM inaugurates emergency services academy

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the state-of-the-art Emergency Services Academy near Thokar Niaz Baig here on Monday.

The chief minister watched the training of rescuers at the academy and lauded their high standard of training and professionalism. Shehbaz Sharif also announced the regularisation of the remaining Rescue 1122 staff and said that their service rules will be formulated by the next month.

The Emergency Services Academy has been constructed at a cost of Rs 908 million and will help in making provincial emergency facilities at par with international standards. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the academy, the chief minister said that the academy was a splendid institution that would come into action during natural catastrophes and help people affected by earthquakes or floods.

The academy is training rescuers on high standards and it has also been equipped modernly. Shehbaz Sharif said although the building of the academy was simple, it was still fully equipped and functional.

He congratulated the provincial minister for finance, the chief secretary, Rescue 1122 director general and his and entire team. The chief minister also inspected the passing out parade and distributed shields among rescuers who had displayed outstanding performance during the course.
