Expired pulses are being sold all over Punjab by hoarding mafia, causing health worries over the breadth of province.

According to details, the government had ordered reduction in price of pulses but the hoarding mafia has caused an artificial shortage due to which the prices have sky-rocketed. The price of pulse which had been set at Rs 150 has gone up to Rs 200 per kilogram.

According to sources, the hoarding mafia has created an artificial shortage and in the process has started mixing batches of expired pulses. The pretext given by the mafia for the shortage is the excessive export from Pakistan to Afghanistan which has allegedly created a gap in supply, it is learned.
