Health dept to appoint 2,100 nurses

Provincial Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Health Sector Reforms on Wednesday in which the appointment of 2,100 more nurses and a special package for MOs/WMOs working in remote areas on contractual basis were approved.

Health P&D Member Dr Shabana Haider, Health Special Secretary Dr Sajid Mahmood Chauhan, Health Development Additional Secretary Musarat Jabeen, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq

Bhatti, Dr Naeemud Din Mian and other officers attended the meeting.

The meeting agreed with the recommendation of Secretary Primary & Secondary Health Ali Jan Khan and gave approval for offering a special pay package based on the distance of the hospitals to the MOs /WMOs recruited on contractual basis for remote areas.

Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Kh Salman Rafique also approved the recruitment of cardiologists for Vehari DHQ Hospital and an orthopaedic surgeon and ophthalmologist for Daska THQ Hospital.

Najam Ahmed Shah informed the meeting that a requisition for the appointment of the nurses was being sent to the Punjab Public Service Commission.
