Robbers rule the roost in Daska

Daska citizens feel insecure as the city and its suburbs are totally in the grip of robbers, dacoits and thieves nowadays. In last five weeks, 26 dacoities and 40 thefts were reported while none of them was traced by local police. Dacoits took away Rs 1.255 million, eight motorcycles, dozens of mobiles, gold ornaments while thieves deprived people of Rs 5 56,000, seven motorcycles, two cars, 15 buffaloes and goats, gold ornaments and other valuables.
At present, many gangs of dacoits and thieves are busy in looting the people of the area at night as well as in broad daylight.
The outlaws have become so bold that they snatched cash and a mobile phone from a patrolling police assistant sub inspector (ASI) and a constable when they were returning home after discharging their duty. In another incident, the dacoits snatched Rs 46,000 from a clerk of a lawyer in front of a bank when he drew the cash. Last weak, the dacoits looted a van on Sambrial Road and snatched cash, mobile phones and other valuables form the passengers. At least two weeks before, three incidents occurred in a day in the limits of the circle police in which thieves took away a car from the city area.
At least two incidents occurred in Motra police limits where thieves stole thousands of rupees and other valuables from a house. The residents alleged that the police had miserably failed to protect the lives and properties of the people, besides remaining helpless in tracing the culprits involved in the heinous crimes. Local social, religious and political circles also expressed concern over the rising dacoity, robbery and theft incidents in Daska. The citizens demanded Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, the Punjab inspector general police (IGP), Gujranwala regional police officer (RPO) and Sialkot district police officer (DPO) take effective measures for making Daska a peaceful city.
WEEK FOR MOTHERS AND BABIES: Silakot Health Executive District Officer (EDO) Dr Syed Talat Iqbal has said that a week, April 25-April 30, for the health of mothers and their babies is being celebrated in tehsil Sambrial under the auspices of Sialkot District Coordination Officer (DCO) Mujahid Sher Dil. The health department has formed various teams to make people aware of proper methods for the better health of mothers and babies and also administer protective vaccine. The teams will provide iron tablets to the children to treat stomach worms so that they might be brought up in a healthy way.
