Indian women cricket team defeated Pakistan women by 17 runs in the Asian Cricket Council Women’s Twenty20 Asia Cup final in Bangkok, Thailand Sunday (today.

India had beaten Pakistan in the group stages too and made it two-in-two in the final on Sunday. The win stretches India’s unbeaten run in the Asia Cup to 32 matches and it is their sixth Asia Cup crown.

Batting first, India scored 121/5 with veteran Mithali Raj scoring the lion’s share of the runs. Opening the inning, she scored 73 runs and remained not out till the end. None of the other batsmen clicked barring Jhulan Goswami who scored 17.

In reply, Pakistan enjoyed good runs with the openers Ayesha Zafar (15) and Javeria Khan (22) but the tail didn’t produce the required runs to get them over the finishing line. Skipper Bismah Maroof also chipped in with 25 but couldn’t get the job done.
