Pak Navy assume guard duties at the Allama Iqbal

A Pakistan Navy contingent assumed guard duties at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal at an impressive ceremony held in Lahore on Wednesday to commemorate the birth anniversary of great poet-philosopher of the East. Commander Lahore Corps Lieutenant General Sadiq Ali laid a floral wreath at the grave and offered Fateha.

Thereafter, the Corps Commander recorded his impressions on the visitor’s book and paid glowing tributes to Allama Iqbal’s visionary thoughts for Muslims of sub-continent that led to Pak movement and creation of an Independent homeland.

Earlier, the ceremony started when the contingent of Pak Navy formed up outside the mausoleum. The contingent of Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) which performs guard duties at the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal round the year, also took the position alongside, soon after, both the outgoing and incoming guard were inspected by Station Commander Navy, Commodore Sajid Mehmood Shahzad.

Later, Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Major General Umar Farooq Barki and Garrison Commander Lahore, Major General Tariq Aman also visited the mausoleum and offered Fateha.

Both the ceremonies were witnessed by a large number of senior civil and military officials, school children and general public which thronged the mausoleum to pay homage to the great Muslim thinker of the East on the eve of his birth anniversary.
