China brings $3bln investment to Punjab

Heads of various investment companies of China met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday and announced investment of three billion dollars in energy, infrastructure, transport, real estate and other sectors.

Chinese investors expressed keen interest in investment in different sectors in the province. The leader of the Chinese delegation and Huarong International Holding Ltd Vice President Xheng Yan while speaking on the occasion said that more investment would be made in Pakistan especially Punjab.

She said that the term Punjab Speed of Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is referred to everywhere in China and Chinese companies want to make investment in Punjab as Chinese investors are very much impressed. She said that speedy investment will be made in Punjab in accordance with Punjab Speed. She said that Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has overtaken Shenzen Speed through his speedy completion of development projects. Chinese Consul General Yu Boren said that Punjab government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has provided excellent atmosphere for investment and projects in infrastructure, transport and energy sectors are being completed expeditiously. He said that he has been in Lahore for two years and has seen speedy achievements of the Punjab government led by Shehbaz Sharif.

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while speaking on the occasion, said that Pak-China friendship has become an example for the whole world and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has given a new dimension to economic relations between the two countries.

He said that work was being carried out round the clock on energy and other projects in Punjab as well as the whole country under the CPEC. He said that Lahore Orange Line Metro Train Project is a precious gift of Chinese president and prime minister for Pakistan.

He said that the Chinese president’s ‘One belt, one road’ vision will bring about progress and prosperity in the region. He said that due to CPEC, investors have been given new opportunities, and added that a number of Chinese investors were benefiting from vast investment opportunities in Pakistan especially Punjab.

The chief minister directed formation of a joint committee of Chinese investors and Punjab government to submit final recommendation within fourteen days for giving a practical shape to investment of Chinese investors. The Chinese delegation included China Huarong International Holdings Ltd Vice President Xheng Yan, Hao Tian Hodlings Chairman Yau Wai Ming, Chief Executive Officer Gao Falian, China Innovative Finance Group CFO Law Man Tat, Executive Assistant Qi Dechao, Senior Adviser Zheng Dayong, Chendong International and Technical Corporation Group General Manager Sun Lie, Senior Business Manager Sun Yicheng among others.

Chinese Consul General Yu Boren, Deputy Consul General Wang Daxue and Consular Attaché Zhai Yinglin, Provincial Ministers Muhammad Shafiq, Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Secretary Energy, Secretary Primary and Secondary Health, Chief Executive Officer Punjab Investment Board and senior officials were present on the occasion.

  1. China improves their financial condition day by day. Now they are decided to invest on Panjab. What a great news for the people of Panjab. I think by this opportunity peoples of Punjab change their life.
