Raza Rabbani postpones official visit to Cuba, summons Senate session for Nov 4

Senate Chairman, Raza Rabbani, on Saturday postponed an official visit to Havana, Cuba, and summoned a Senate session on November 4.

Chairman Senate was to proceed to Havan on the invitation of Esteban Lazo Hernandez, President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Cuba, accompanied by a delegation of Senators Mushahid Hussain Syed, Nasreen Jalil, Nisar Muhammad Khan, Shahi Syed, Gian Chand and Amjed Pervez, Secretary Senate.

A requisition under Article 54(3) of the Constitution was received in the Senate Secretariat, late on Friday evening signed by Senator Taj Haider and 27 other Senators.

In view of the same, the Senate Chairman postponed his official visit in order to perform his constitutional duties and functions.

The Senate Chairman has examined the requisition and found 26 signatures to be in order, thus meeting the requirements of Clause (3) of Article 54 of the Constitution, 1973, read with Rules of Procedure and Conduct of the Business in the Senate, 2012.

Therefore, in exercise of his powers under Clause (3) of Article 54, the Chairman, Senate of Pakistan

has summoned a Session of Senate on Friday, November the 4th, at 3:30 pm in Parliament House.
