Pakistan whitewash West Indies in ODI series

Pakistan made clean sweep in the three-match One-day International series against West Indies, winning by a big margin of 136 runs   here at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Wednesday.

Pakistan’s 3-0 sweep of the ODI series enabled them to displace West Indies at No. 8 in the ODI rankings.

Chasing a huge total of 309, West Indies were all out for 172 with six full overs to spare.

Denesh Ramdin top scored with 37, followed by Carlos Braithwaite (32).

For Pakistan, slow left-arm spinner Mohammad Nawaz claimed three wickets for 40 and left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz took two for 28.

Earlier, Pakistan batted first for the third time in the three-match series and made 308 runs for the loss of six wickets in the 50 overs.

Captain Azhar Ali and young Babar Azam hit magnificent centuries adding 147 for the second wicket after Azhar made 85 with Sharjeel Khan (38) for the opening wicket partnership.

Azhar became the first Pakistan ODI captain to score three hundreds whereas Babar Azam became only the third Pakistan batsman to score hundreds in three successive ODI innings.

Azhar scored 101from 109 balls while Babar made 117 off 106 balls, both hit eight fours and a six each.
