The Indian Army has made it clear to Prime Minister Narendra Modi that war is not an option to settle affairs with Pakistan and both countries will have to negotiate a peaceful resolution through dialogue, claimed former Foreign Minister Mahmood Kasuri.
Speaking at a sitting on “Future of Pak-India relations with special reference to Pakistan’s Foreign Policy” at TECH Club yesterday, he ruled out the possibility of war between the neighbouring countries.
Former Minister of State Qayyum Nizami, Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh, Dr Muhammad Sadiq, Jameel Gishkori and Zubair Sheikh also spoke at the sitting.
Kasuri said India was well aware that war with a nuclear power was not the right option.
Kasuri further said that use of tactical nuclear weapons and advanced technology were the best defence for Pakistan against any aggression in the future. Pakistan should ensure good governance and strengthen its economy besides focusing on soft power option because he said it lacked in these fields as compared to India which was bigger in size.
He said Pakistan needed to present its point of view worldwide in a befitting manner regarding the Kashmir issue. India understood that Pakistan was a nuclear power and it would have to settle its affairs with the country amicably.
Nizami indicating the reasons for distrust between India and Pakistan said Indians were afraid of Pakistanis who could hoist a flag at Lal Qila and Pakistanis afraid Indians would create another Bangladesh. Had Pakistan not been a nuclear state India would have attacked it, he added.
