Eid cleanliness operation concludes in capital

Offal, entrails and waste material of more than 55,000 sacrificial animals collected and disposed of

 

Sanitation Directorate of Capital Development Authority (CDA) successfully completed cleanliness operation of Eidul Azha.

During this special operation, workers of the Sanitation Directorate collected and disposed of offals, entrails and other waste material of more than 55,000 sacrificial animals.

Islamabad Mayor and CDA Chairman Sheikh Ansar Aziz personally supervised the whole operation and visited different sectors, towns and urban localities to inspect arrangements made by the Sanitation Directorate in connection with special cleanliness operation.

The cleanliness drive remained in full swing for both second and the third day by the directorate.

Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) Chief Officer Asad Mehboob Kiyani and Sanitation Director Sardar Khan Zimri planned the whole action plan which included dumping sites where 35 deep ditches and trenches were dug up at 18 different locations of the city where the remains and offal of sacrificial animals were disposed of. For this purpose, Islamabad was divided into six zones covering both rural and urban areas.

The leaves of entire staff of sanitation directorate were cancelled to meet the task and officials and officers of Sanitation Directorate served in the field round the clock. More than 2,000 sanitary workers, including sweepers, supervisory staff, contractor’s staff and officers actively participated in the drive.

Emergency and Disaster Management and other formations assisted Sanitation Directorate in the operation. About 150 vehicles, including tractors with trolleys, dozers, trucks, compactors etc. of Sanitation Directorate, Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), Environment Directorate, Enforcement Directorate and other directorates concerned were used and the operation continued uninterrupted. A helpline in this regard was also established which remained functional round the clock.

While appreciating the arrangements and successful cleanliness operation carried out by Sanitation Directorate, Mayor of Islamabad and CDA Chairman Aziz urged the staff to continue working with same zeal and enthusiasm to keep Islamabad clean and green.

He said the CDA has taken effective measures to equip Sanitation Directorate with latest machinery to keeping the federal capital neat and in tidy condition. He also lauded the cooperation of residents as well as media due to which the cleanliness operation remained successful.
