The West Indies Cricket Board has announced their team to play in the forthcoming tour of Pakistan. They were sensible enough to drop and rest their senior players namely Chris Gayle, Sarwan and Chanderpaul.
Pollard will be away for the IPL in India .Although these players did perform much better than most of our batsmen especially the senior ones in the recently concluded world cup, they have still been dropped to give chance to youngsters and in the greater interest of the West Indian cricket team.
The reasons behind this decision are very clear. Firstly, they want to try new faces and build their future team. Secondly after the announcement of our team, they do not expect much opposition in the cricket stadiums.
So good luck to Mr Ijaz Butt and Mohsin Khan. Lets hope their decision of the selection of Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq who failed miserably in the World Cup does not come back to haunt them.
I wish they had selected new faces on merit keeping in mind the next T-20 and ODI World Cups. Winning these things need preparation and planning. It was seen that the Sri Lankan captain despite performing really well in the World Cup resigned so that a new skipper could be groomed for the next World Cup.
I wish our compatriots could take a leaf out of his book. Can we expect better sense to prevail? I wish we could think ahead.
