The PPPs co-Chairman may not get another chance to test his mettle if he fails to achieve a consensus on the building of vital Kalabagh dam that is the sure panacea for ending our perennial troubles of water and power storage.
Only the combined votes of PPP and both PML factions could provide the required majority in the National Assembly to tip the balance in a positive decision for the dam. If the president can pull off this feat, then the re-election of PPP to rule the country till 2018 could be ensured. Otherwise, the dismal progress of past three years would in all probability throw the mandate of PPP in the dustbin of history for all times to come.
Time and tide wait for no one. Now is the time for the president to stand above and solve the so far intractable problem of the dam. He can lead the way to motivate the moribund state of PML(N) to raise its voice along with PPP to break the logjam on the vital dam.
