When it comes to Pakistani weddings, one is forced to link them with arrange marriages. The social makeup of the Pakistani society has made the arranged marriage a prevalent scenario.

On the other hand, love marriages are taken as a taboo. For them, two people should tie the wedding knot only with the consent of their parents and the blessings of their relatives. Love marriages are still forbidden in almost all the parts of Pakistan.

On the other hand, the people supporting the concept of love marriage strongly believe that it is very important to know the partner before marrying him/her. Love marriages normally take place after knowing each other for a long time.

In this way they get ample time to explore both the good and bad qualities of one another before marriage. This helps them develop a good comfort level after marriage. In arranged marriages, this takes time.

The basic fundamentals to make a marriage work include trust, tolerance and compromise. In the case of love marriage, partners might expect more from each other. This leads to compromises.

On the other hand, compromises and adjustments form the foundation of arranged marriage, largely because the married couple does not have any preconceived notions or expectations from one another. Moreover, in the time of financial crisis or problems, the couple can easily seek help from their parents or acquaintances in case of arrange marriages.

Both have their advantages but the arranged marriages are better because of the moral support and their financial backup that their families can provide.
