Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Central Information Secretary Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the government has been making all-out efforts to “bury” the Panama Leaks issue, but added that such attempts would not succeed.
Talking to a group of reporters here on Sunday, Kaira said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) feared accountability in line with the revelations made in the Panama Leaks as there would be no change of survival of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members.
He said the PPP stood with opposition parties on the issue of corruption of the ruling elite and would definitely take to streets for lodging protests and holding anti-government demonstrations.
Responding to a question, the PPP leader said it would be the biggest misfortune if the Panama Leaks issue was put under the carpet without any investigation.
Kaira also expressed concerns over the pace of investigation and action on hate speech of Altaf Hussain. “The language used by Altaf against Pakistan and national institutions was unpardonable and strict action should be taken against him,” added the PPP leader.
