The Chief Minister of Punjab has asked the Prime Minister to hold a meeting with the heads of the judiciary and Pakistan Army to find solutions to the security and economic crises faced by our country. It is the failure of politicians to establish good governance in the centre and other provinces.
The Punjab should have become a role model for the other provinces by improving the economy and law-and-order of the province during the last three years. But the crimes in the Punjab have multiplied and there is no control on terrorism. After kicking out the PPP from the Punjab government and accepting the unification group of PML(Q) has damaged the creditability of PML(N).
It can no longer claim that it has been trying to uphold the politics of principles. Now the PML(N) wants to cover up their blunders. The Punjab Province having 62 percent of Pakistan s population and the political power base of PML(N) are unable to reform the police (Thaana Culture), improve the standard of education in government schools, colleges, build new hospitals and implement the mass public transport system. Chief Minister Punjab has kept more than 15 ministries with him and is managing the day-to-day work with the help of civil bureaucracy.
Although the Chief Minister has been ruling the Punjab single handedly, yet he has failed to provide any relief to the people. His project of Sasti Roti has flopped and Rs. 10 billion has been wasted. It is the responsibility of elected representatives of the people to form the policies and than ask the state institution for implementation.
The Pakistan Army and judiciary have their roles defined in the constitution of Pakistan and policy making is the sole prerogative of the elected representatives of the country. If the PML(N) has accepted the dominance of the Pakistan Army in the decision-making processes of the country and is imploring them to solve the problems faced by the country, then what moral justification do the politician have for ruling the country?
