Our old and youth

I am writing this letter with great sorrow and distress on the way the assets of the country, its citizens and the future of the country are being treated. My grandparents had to walk their way to Lahore on foot as the train had stopped because of mass murder by Sikhs. They had to spend several nights on the streets before they could find their relatives.

Such patriotic people are the main victims of rising inflation. They find it hard to continue living on their existing lifestyle with the value of money depreciating. Our country has or does not appreciate the rules for the senior citizens; there are no separate lines for them in public and private offices. They have to stand in a normal line when they have to get their visas renewed, or have to stand and wait for their turn in the banks. These people are the assets of this nation. They gave away everything they had when they migrated to this country and since then they have been giving in terms of economic activity and social input.

I am neither a reporter nor a politician, I am a common man who feels sad to see old people standing under the sun waiting for their turn in various offices, while young people probably with sources skipping the line and getting their work done. An action in this regard would not only help the seniors of the society from the hassles and troubles they go through but also instil in them the patriotism they had for their country.

Patriotism in this country is diminishing at an exponential level, especially in the hearts of the teenagers of this country. Each of them is trying his/her level best to go abroad either on a student visa or some other way to find for themselves a better lifestyle and an opportunity to overcome their own and their familys financial problems. They have lost all hope for the country to start prospering. All they see around them are the sounds of explosions and gun fires, stories of their friends and families being kidnapped and corruption starting from the bottom of the management level going right up to the top.

These problems have to be tackled, we need the future to stay with us and without these teenagers our future will and cannot be prosperous. The country is going through one of the toughest times so far in its history, but a talk with these teenagers now and then can help clear their thoughts and help in forming a more positive image and perception of Pakistan.
