Workplace conflicts

Nowadays, the emergence of an extremely competitive environment in the market has changed the overall business structure. Various organisations are focusing on advance technology and marketing of their products, but they are ignoring the hazardous effects of conflicts between managements and workers. In recent years, Pakistan is experiencing a severe economic recession and high inflation rate. This means that organisations try to cut costs by reducing the salaries of employees. Moreover, since unemployment rates are high, there is a glut of people in the job market that can be used to replace existing workers. Thus, the omnipresent risk of worker replacement is used as a strategy by the management to push through unpopular measures.

All these factors create job insecurity among the workers as well as conflicts and communication gaps between managements and labourers, which not only affect the organizational structure but worker morale and productivity as well. It is the responsibility of HR departments to give relief to employees and convince them to cooperate with managements instead of going on strikes frequently and unnecessarily. But both the parties have to realise that its a two-way street.
