The city of lights has once again been bathed in blood. Karachi has always been plagued by sectarian strife and turf wars and the citys dwellers have been upset by the unrest plaguing the city which is largely due to the clashing political interests at play. The recent spate of killings in Liaquatabad and Orangi has once again shed light on the ugly forces at play in the city.
No political party in the past has had the nerve to unmask the culprits behind such incidents. No wonder the people who incite such trouble often get license to continue with their hooliganism and pressurising tactics to fulfil their short-sighted political gains. Unless some government is ready to take the necessary steps required and step up to the mantle, this problem will continue to worsen and nobody will be able to stand up to the forces at play here.
It is not the city that is embattled but also its heart and soul. Is hoping for a peaceful Karachi just wishful thinking or do the authorities have the acumen and the nerve to deal with this problem.
