The reduction in petrol prices has been welcomed unanimously by all sections of society. But our people are not realising that this is very transient relief. Since this will put the government under unbearable fiscal strain, it will eventually have to pass on the burden to the public. The government may have done this to deal with political exigencies but one would assume it does have a plan in place. If not, then we can expect more of the same misery in the future.
