Blasphemy laws

Blasphemy is a hot topic these days. Not only the religious leaders but an ordinary Pakistani also considers blasphemy as one of the biggest sins.

There is a lot of intolerance among the Muslims on the issue of blasphemy, particularly in Pakistan. An average Muslim is so afraid of this word blasphemy that he/she chooses not to comment on this issue.

This is perhaps due to the teachings of the extremist mindset that has somehow brainwashed everyone to follow what they say, instead of what actually is taught by the religion.

The personality that Muslims usually try to protect by using the blasphemy laws himself always forgave and forgot about those who insulted him. Then why we, being Muslims, are so intolerant that we choose death for a person who unintentionally remarks negatively on the personality of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

The present government only tried to suggest a few changes in the implementation of the law but the religious hardliners showed great resistance.

It is important for all those who understand religion in its real sense to come forward and fight for the cause to suggest changes in the implementation of the blasphemy laws so that not only the minorities but everyone is protected from the negative repercussions of this law.
