The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on a tip-off carried out a raid at Shah Latif Town in Karachi on Tuesday night. The terrorists present in the area opened fire at the raiding party which was retaliated by the CTD personnel as a result of which two terrorists were killed.
One CTD official was also wounded in exchange of fire with terrorists. According to SSP CTD Junaid Sheikh, suicide jackets, hand grenades and other ammunition were recovered from the dead terrorists.
Junaid Sheikh further informed that suicide jackets were diffused by a bomb disposal squad. The bodies of the dead terrorists were shifted to a hospital. The identity of the dead terrorists is not yet known.
On the other hand, law enforcement agencies carried out an operation in Gharibabad area of Liaquatabad and detained two accused belonging to a political party. The arrested persons were shifted to some undisclosed location for further investigation.
In a separate development, police arrested four accused during an operation in Shah Faisal area. Police sources said the arrested persons were involved in street crimes. The police also arrested 89 suspects from Mangopir area of the city on Tuesday/Wednesday night.
