Sindh Taraqi Pasand Party (STPP) Chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has demanded that former Sindh home minister Dr Zulfiqar Ali Mirza, Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain and Awami National Party-Sindh President Shahi Syed be arrested because they have destroyed the peace in Karachi and are involved in killing innocent people; he also demanded that Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan be sacked.
Moreover, Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) Chairman Bashir Khan Qureshi has asked the Sindhis living in the city to purchase weapons for protecting themselves because the government would not protect their lives and properties. Addressing the residents of Chakra Goth on Sunday, STPP Chairman Magsi said that Islamabad would not come forward to protect the Sindhis in the metropolitan, but only Allah, who is merciful, would provide protection to them.
He said that the Pakistan People’s Party government has completely failed in providing protection to its voters and other people of the metropolis. “The current government should be removed, and an honest government should be formed for six months that would control the situation. If the killers of six people of Chakra Goth are not arrested, the situation in the city could not be brought under control,” he added.
JSQM Chairman Qureshi said that no one could snatch Sindh from the Sindhis, adding, “Agencies want bloodshed in the city, and they should stop playing the game that they have started in Chakra Goth. Residents of Karachi should purchase legal weapons for self-protection because the government has completely failed in providing protection to them.”
Earlier, a fact-finding committee of the Aurat Foundation arrived in Chakra Goth with the media, and the female members of the committee went from house to house to gather facts. Residents of the area welcomed the Aurat Foundation delegation and the media, telling them that the number of the armed attackers was between 150 and 200, and they seemed to have spread through the locality coming in from every point of entry.
The locals said that the miscreants fired indiscriminately without any provocation or reason, killing and wounding the residents of Chakra Goth, and they also torched vehicles and shops in the area. “Three days have passed without electricity, water, gas and other civic facilities in the locality. The Karachi Electric Supply Company does not seem interested in repairing the pole-mounted transformers that were damaged by terrorists through firing,” they added.
The fact-finding committee of the Aurat Foundation, the media, Magsi, Qureshi and representatives of other nationalist parties were welcomed in Chakra Goth by a large number of residents, who said that they do not want war with any community because they are peaceful people.
