The ‘K’ factor

During the US Presidents visit, it was ensured by India that the issue of Kashmir did not come up on any official or unofficial occasion. There are some crucial questions that need answering on the Kashmir issue. The most important is when the UN has given it a status of a disputed territory and the right of plebiscite to the Kashmiris, then how can it be an internal matter of India. Why is India afraid of it and avoids to discuss it?

The only answer is that the Indian govt and its security forces are crossing all limits to forcibly suppress the freedom movement in Kashmir. They are afraid that their excesses in violation of human rights may be exposed because there are some saner intellectuals, think tanks as well as media analysts who are coming up with actual realities and showing solidarity with the Kashmiris.

India is helpless to take action against them due to their international standing and evidence that they have as proof. The Muslims in India and Kashmir were expecting a lot from this visit. Only one sentence in their favour could have boosted their morale. But the worlds sole superpower and the second largest democracy has also to overlook the democratic norms and human rights violation when it comes to the economic and military benefits with India.
