A woman filed a petition in the Sindh High Court on Thursday against police for “releasing her son’s sketch identifying him as Qawwal Amjad Sabri’s murderer”.
Hours after Sabri’s killing in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on Wednesday, police had released a “70-percent” resembling sketch of the qawwal’s suspected killer.
Hameeda Begum said her son went missing in 2014, following which she had also filed an FIR [First Information Report] at Clifton police station.
Police have issued the sketch to blame my son for the murder, Hameeda alleged.
The killing came two days after masked men kidnapped the son of Sindh’s top judge from outside a supermarket in broad daylight in an upscale locality of the city.
Sabri, 45, was travelling from his home to a television studio to attend an iftar transmission, when a motorcycle pulled up alongside his white coloured Honda Civic and the two riders opened fire, according to police.
