Says NAB plans establishing training academy on pattern of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry has said that the bureau accords high priority to the training of its investigation officers and prosecutors. The bureau has planned to establish its own training academy on the pattern of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy in Islamabad, he added.
“NAB has established a digital forensic science lab in NAB Rawalpindi which has digital forensics, question documents and finger print analysis facilities,” he said, and added, “The Bureau is committed to eradicating corruption from the country”.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting to review Training of Trainers (TOT), refresher and capacity building courses for NAB investigation officers conducted till May 31, 2016.
During the meeting, DG Training and Research (T and R) informed that eight TOT courses of five days duration were held at NAB HQ and 18 officers from BS-18 to BS-19 attended the courses. He informed that four refresher courses for IOs and COs were planned during 2016. Out of four refresher courses, two refresher courses of two weeks duration have been conducted till 31 May, 2016 in which 221 IOs and COs attended the courses. He informed that two refresher courses for prosecutors were planned during 2016. Out of two refresher courses, one refresher course of two weeks duration has been conducted till 31 May, 2016 in which 47 prosecutors attended the course. He informed that three Inter-Regional Training courses were planned during 2016. Out of three, one training course of one-week duration was conducted till 31 May, 2016 in which 29 officers attended the training.
He further informed that six capacity building courses for officers were planned during 2016. Out of six of these courses, one course of two days duration was conducted till 31 May, 2016. He informed that nine in land trainings have been availed in collaboration with foreign agencies i.e. Australian National Police, British High Commission, Asian Development Bank and UNODC during 2016. 49 NAB officers from regional NAB departments have attended these trainings till 31 May, 2016. He further informed that 17 training courses offered by the academies of other law enforcement agencies, government department have been availed till 31 May, 2016 in which 44 NAB officers attended these trainings. He informed that besides training of NAB IOs, COs and prosecutors, NAB availed 27 training courses for its secretaries, managerial and administrative staff from local training institutes like Secretariat Training Institute, Islamabad and Pakistan Manpower Institute etc.
