Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has said that dignified return of dislocated tribal families to their native places was the top priority of the government, as the people of FATA had rendered great sacrifices for peace in the entire region and sovereignty of the country.

He was chairing a high-level meeting of FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) to review the repatriation process of TDPs (temporarily dislocated persons) in FATA at Governor’s House in Peshawar on Friday. Besides Principal Secretary to Governor Sikandar Qayyum and FDMA DG Syed Fayyaz Ali Shah, other relevant officials also attended the meeting. A detailed briefing was also given to the governor from FDMA DG. The meeting reviewed the repatriation process of TDPs and discussed the prevailing situation in FATA.

During the briefing, the governor was told that the return process of TDPs has already been started and is going on successfully. The governor directed the relevant officials to use all available resources for their assistance, rehabilitation and expeditious resettlement, adding that no compromise will be tolerated in this regard.

Addressing the meeting, the governor said: “Dignified return and rehabilitation of TDPs was the top priority of the government, and steps have been taken to ensure reconstruction and development of the region”.

“Time has come to take concrete measures for the well-being of tribal people and to redress their grievances on a priority basis,” the governor said, and added, “The government is aware of the problems of tribesmen and efforts were being made to develop the entire region to link the people of FATA to the mainstream”.

He said that tribesmen and our security forces had rendered great sacrifices to ensure peace and stability in the area, and their sacrifices in the war against terrorism are highly valuable and well acknowledged.
