Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) Chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that Panama Leaks report has diverted government’s focus from more important matters. He demanded both the ruling and the opposition parties to finalise the Terms of Reference (ToRs) for commission to end this issue once and for all.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Sherpao said the Panama Leaks issue has created a sense of political and economic inactivity in the country.

Aftab Sherpao said the tug of war between the federal and provincial governments has continued on since the 2013 elections. The Centre should not be biased with the masses of the smaller provinces, as it will pave ways to weaken the foundation of the federation, he added.

Talking about Pak-Afghan relations, QWP chief said killing of Taliban leader added fuel to fire, as it could bring negative impacts on the upcoming Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG)’s meeting. “To me, there is no ray of hope emerging from QCG to help resolve the Afghan peace settlement following the killing of Mullah Mansour,” Aftab Sherpao hinted.

Emphasising on the unity of the Pakhtuns, Aftab Sherpao said that the entire nation was waiting for the report of the FATA Reforms Committee to decide the fate of people of FATA. He added that in order to make the voice of the Pakhtuns stronger; FATA should be merged into KP province in order to bring the tribesmen into mainstreaming.

Highlighting the importance of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project, QWP chief said that the Chinese government is intending to develop its remote areas through this project.
