Laraib Hanif, daughter of Station Head Officer (SHO) Bangla Acha Police Station of district Rajanpur, Muhammad Hanif Ghouri, who was among the policemen martyred in the operation against Chhotu Gang, wrote a letter to Inspector General Police Punjab Mushtaq Sukhera. In the letter, the late SHO’s daughter says that the propaganda in media against those martyred in the operation against Chhoto gang, has deeply upset her family.

The copy of the letter is available with Pakistan Today.

Laraib writes that the family is proud of their father for laying down his life fighting the gangsters but media’s propaganda and politicians’ statements had hurt them.

“I watched a program where it was being said that the police personnel did not willingly participate in the operation against Chhotu gang. I cannot say about others but my father always said that he was fighting against the enemies of the country,” she wrote.

According to Laraib, the martyred SHO talked to his son via wireless a few moments before his martyrdom. His morale was high and he vowed to eliminate the culprits and said that he was ready to sacrifice his life for the purpose. He always said that he was fighting this war for the country and its people. He had made a commitment to himself to not return from the battle field without completing the mission of eliminating the Chhotu gang, she says.

Laraib also mentioned the conversation of her father with the head of the Chhotu gang Ghulam Rasool Bhikrani. Chhotu asked my father what his last wish was, and my father replied he wanted to kill Chhotu himself, she said. She complained that this was not highlighted by any channel while it was viral on social media.

She requested the IGP to play his role in foiling the propaganda in media against her father and other police personnel martyred in the line of duty.

Laraib further wrote that her family is ready to give up all the rewards given by the government but the humiliation by media and politicians must stop. She said that hundreds of people come to their house to pay tributes to her father for his bravery, and on the other hand media is humiliating the sacrifices of the martyred by saying that the police were not ready to participate in the operation.

I am hopeful this appeal would not be ignored and the propaganda which has wounded our hearts would be foiled, the letter further reads.

She assured the IGP that she and her three brothers would never shy away from sacrificing their lives for the homeland following the footsteps of their martyred father.
