Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Wednesday stated that the Terms of References (TORs) with regard to the investigation of the Panama Leaks must be decided by the parliament, as the ones decided by the government or the commission set up by the government will not have much credibility.

According to the party’s spokesperson, the PPP’s Parliamentary Committee met with the party chairman in Islamabad and informed him about the consultation process relating to the Panama Leaks’ investigation with other political parties.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly (NA) Syed Khursheed Shah said that meetings have been held with representatives of different political parties, including the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Awami National Party (ANP) and Qaumi Watan Party. He added that the consultation process will be expanded to include other parties as well.

Bilawal emphasised that the matter needs to be brought to parliament after consulting all the political parties. He said that the TORs introduced by the investigation commission named by the prime minister and the government will hold no value as the PM and his family have been named in the Panama Papers. Bilawal said that keeping this in mind, the PPP suggests that the TORs regarding the investigation be decided after a debate of the political parties in the parliament.
