Provincial Minister for Sports, Culture, Museum and Youth Affairs, Mehmood Khan on Wednesday said the provincial government would ensure protection of the historical and cultural heritage of the province at all cost.
The minister directed the officials concerned to take concrete measures for protection and security of historical graveyards and tombs in the province.
Presiding over a high-level meeting with members of Malik Ahmed Baba committee here at the committee room of Tourism Department, the minister said historical tombs and graveyards are part of our culture and its protection is the responsibility of the government.
The members of the committee include Rahimullah Yousafzai, Prof Dr Sher Muhammad, Prof Dr Abdul Hameed Khan,Prof Abasin Yousafzai and Dr Muhammad Nawaz besides representatives of Culture Department attended.
The meeting highlighted the services of Malik Ahmed Baba for Youafzai tribe and presented suggestions for protection his tomb and its attached graveyard.
The meeting also deliberated on establishment of a Culture Centre adjacent to the tomb of Malik Ahmed Baba. The Minister while assuring every possible support said he would also contact with Commissioner Mardan in this regard.
