Young Doctors Association (YDA) on Wednesday staged protests across the country for not increasing salaries and better service structure.

Young doctors in Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Islamabad took to the streets, demanding to raise their incentives and other facilities.

The protesters while carrying placards inscribed with their demands chanted slogans against provincial governments for failing to raise their salaries.

In Lahore, doctors of Jinnah Hospital and Sheikh Zayed Hospital blocked main Canal Road. The act badly irked locals that also sparked an exchange of harsh words.

Children Hospital and General Hospital doctors demonstrated protest at Ferozpur Road while Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) and Services Hospital doctors came out on Jail Road.

Medical practitioners at Mayo Hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital badly disrupted flow of traffic at Mall Road.

In Gujranwala, a rally was led towards Munir Chowk from Trauma Centre for the same cause.

Separately in Faisalabad, Allied Hospital doctors stated that Punjab government made tall claims to improve the health facilities but no action has been taken in this regard so far.

On the other hand, several doctors participated in the protest held on Murree Road in front of the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH).

The protesters urged the government to withdraw the decision regarding deducting 15 percent from hospitals’ budget and to promote the young doctors to Grade 18.
