LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board has welcomed the ‘positive’ comments by the Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao. “A Pakistan-India series is a huge event in cricket and we are happy over this development,” a PCB spokesman said.
“PCB has been working on reviving the bilateral series between Pakistan and India with the BCCI and we hope to achieve positive results soon,” he said. Pakistan and India have not competed in a bilateral series since 2007, when Shoaib Malik led the greenshirts on the tour of India.
Though the two neighbours appear keen to revive the series, chances are remote that any bilateral series can take place this year because there is no proper window available to fit in a full series in 2011. However, according to sources, there is a possibility that Pakistan and India might meet in a few limited-overs matches in England in this summer.
India will be in England to play a full series there while Pakistan have several free weeks during the summer. According to reports, PCB and BCCI are exploring the possibility of fitting in a few Twenty20 or One-day Internationals between their teams in England.
