KARACHI: English player Alex Hales has joined Islamabad United in Karachi for Pakistan Super League (PSL) playoffs.

Hales, who is an important player of England’s limited-overs team, is making a return to the United after playing four matches for the franchise in the last season. The hard-hitting batsman is replacing his countryman Ian Bell in the team.

The English player said that he is excited to be back with Islamabad United for this year’s PSL. “I can’t wait to play in front of our passionate crowd,” he said, adding we have seen some exciting cricket in this season of PSL and United has given some excellent performances. “I look forward to joining the squad and I hope that I can help the team lift the trophy once again.”

Islamabad United owner Ali Naqvi said that Hales is one of the leading T-20 players of the world. “And  I am excited that he will play in front of Pakistani fans,” Naqvi added.

“I am confident that Hales will add positive energy in the squad as we are looking to win the playoffs,” he said.

Meanwhile, another English player and fast bowler Chris Jordan has also joined Peshawar Zalmi after taking a break midway due to his national duties.

Peshawar Zalmi will face Quetta Gladiators in the qualifier on March 13, followed by the first eliminator between Islamabad United and Karachi Kings on March 14.
