LAHORE – CNG sales in Punjab will be closed from Monday for an indefinite period as the All Pakistan CNG Association has announced to shut all CNG stations against the discriminatory policies of the Punjab government.
The All Pakistan Petroleum Retailers Association (APPRA) has also announced to join the strike and shut down all petrol filling stations, demanding the Punjab government immediately evolve a policy regarding lease of petrol filling stations in the province. Addressing a press conference on Friday, APCNGA Chairman Ghayas Abdullah Paracha said a large number of petrol pump owners had agreed to close stations and from April 13, there would be a complete closure of CNG and petrol filling stations.
On Monday and Tuesday, there will be a routine two-day CNG closure in the city and from Wednesday onwards, CNG stations would be closed in protest. “SNGPL promised to restore gas supplies to CNG stations on March 15, but later extended the date to March 20 and kept suspending gas, which prompted the CNG sector to go foe harsh decisions,” he said.
