Rs 11.5m taken in NBP heist

Despite security high alert in the federal capital Islamabad, i=unidentified robbers took away millions of rupees from the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) branch on Monday.

Sources said that six armed robbers barged into a branch of NBP located in Rawat area of Islamabad, took the staff hostage at gunpoint and took away Rs 1,15,00,000.

The police after getting the information of the incident cordoned off the area and launched a search operation but the looters managed to escape.

On Monday security in the federal capital was on red alert due to rehearsals of the March 23 parade and the cellular service was suspended from 6am to 3pm and robbers took advantage this.
