The Anti Corruption Department (ACD) has formed a team to probe alleged nepotism and corruption in awarding contracts in the Rawalpindi local government development schemes.

Sources said that two contractors from Lahore, Muhammad Nasir Naveed and Mumtaz, had lodged complaints with the ACD that contracts of development schemes were being awarded to favoured contactors by manipulating pre-qualification bids.

They also said that the city district government officials awarded contracts either among favourites or after taking hefty bribes from contractors.

According to the sources, a team headed by a circular officer Mumtaz Makeen has been constituted to probe the alleged scam in the city government development schemes

When contacted, Director Anti Corruption Junaid Ibrahim said that action will be taken on the findings of the investigation team, which has been directed to submit the report at the earliest. He also said that the probing team will also seize the record of contracts that have been awarded so far.
